Astro at Misti

Astro at Misti

A few weeks ago, I found myself on the slopes of Misti, a dormant volcano in the Peruvian Andes. Ready for an adventure, I prepared everything for a two-day expedition to the summit at 5,822 meters (19,101 feet).

Alone and without support, I began the journey up the mountain, a journey full of lessons.

I had two goals in mind: to reach the summit and fly from there. After 11 hours of climbing, darkness was closing in on me, and I set up camp at 4,500 meters. The next day, I reached the summit.

One of two goals achieved. After talking with the mountain and the sky, both decided I wasn't allowed to fly. So, I had to begin my journey down.

It's impossible for me to recount everything that happened in a single post, but at one point during my journey, my limits were challenged. I had to use all the skills I had learned to return to civilization.

Now I know that rarely on our personal journey do we encounter trials that knock us down; don't fear them, learn from them.

Ego aligned, body and mind ready for the next adventure.
