About Didier

Didier C. Torres is a software developer, photographer, and adventurer living in Honduras.

When he's not on a mountain flying his paraglider or in a remote dark sky practicing astrophotography, you can find him coding on his computer or prototyping new technologies.

He is the current secretary of the Honduran Paragliding Association, where he contributes to the development of the sport in the country. He is the co-organizer of the Honduras paragliding festival and He is also a local pioneer in the disciplines of Hike&Fly and Vol Biv.

Some of his mountain achievements include being the third Honduran to reach the summit of Aconcagua (6,967.15 m / 22,858.1 ft), the highest point on the planet outside the Himalayas, and the fourth Honduran to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro in Africa (5,895 m / 19,341 ft).

As a photographer he has explored high altitude astrophotography, capturing the milky way in the mountains and deep sky imaging in dark forests. He has documented several astronomical events in Honduras and is currently working on a dark sky atlas for the region.

With more than a decade of experience in software engineering and research, he is involved in artificial intelligence, creative coding and provides mentorship. He volunteers with organizations improving access to education in the mountains of Honduras and with environmental conservation groups.
